Carsington Water is a man-made reservoir, flooded in 1990, and is a superb centre for water sports and for walkers. It is only 2½ miles from the cottage. Kedleston Hall is a major National Trust property. It is about 14 miles from the cottage. Hardwick Hall, another National Trust Property is 21 miles away. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Bess's death. Chatsworth House, one of Britain's most famous stately homes, is just 14 miles from the Coach House. Haddon Hall is a 12th century manor house, about 9 miles from the cottage. Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, opened in March 2008 as a pleasure/passenger service. The station is at Wirksworth just milesfrom the Coach House. Peak District website is the official website for the area and covers just about everything!
